Leipzig and Goslar − 4 days from £299

Leipzig

A beer style returns from the dead, wheat beer flavoured with salt and Coriander and named Leipziger Gose. Two of the five Leipzig breweries now brew Gose and with three other breweries, the place of Wagner's birth offers plenty of culture and history both old and new.

Leipzig was the birthplace of Wagner and both Bach and Mendelssohn lived and died here. Among the highlights of our tour we will also see the church where the "Velvet Revolution" began in 1989.

The historic town of Goslar has over 1000 years of history. The discovery of silver and copper ore deposits meant that one of the largest territories of the Holy Roman Empire was established here in the 11th century.

Goslar

For centuries a Northern German seat of government and religion. The town's unique silhouette contained the spires of 47 churches, chapels and monasteries. It was referred to as the "Rome of the North".

The many crooked, narrow, cobble-stoned streets in the Old Town are an adventure of their own, where secret nooks and crannies await discovery.

Goslar is backed by the over 600m high Rammelsberg Mountain. In it are the ore mines, which closed down only as recently as 1988. Since 1992, the mine and the Old Town of Goslar have been entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
